Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov launched the reconstruction of the railway station complex at Stara Zagora.The term for the implementation of the activities is 24 months.
"The project creates a new sense of modernity of the city and the comfort of passengers, who, departing from Sofia to Bourgas, will pass through the renovated stations", said Minister Jeliazkov during the ceremony. He reminded that Stara Zagora station is one of the six railway stations that will be modernized with funds from the Operational Program on "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" - along with Karnobat, Poduyane, Iskar, Kazichene and Nova Zagora.
The Stara Zagora complex is located in the southwestern part of Stara Zagora, and the reception building of the station was designed and built in the 70s. The scope of the project includes repair, reconstruction and modernization of the existing railway infrastructure in order to ensure the safety of passengers, as well as bringing the railway complex in line with European standards in railway transport.Energy efficiency measures will be introduced, elevators and escalators will be built, all installations, wall, floor and ceiling coatings, new facades and air conditioning will be replaced.The entire building complex will be accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The reconstruction of Stara Zagora complex is carried out with co-financing by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014-2020 and the value of the contract for construction of the site is BGN 9 726 944, 27 excluding VAT, with contractor “European Railway Station – Stara Zagora”, which includes the companies:“Parsec Group” EOOD, “Prestige Business-93” OOD, “Bigla – III” OOD and “ATM” EOOD.
