Short description of the project |
The project will help Bulgaria to meet its commitments to the development of railway infrastructure, reaching European standards and contributing to the steady development of the Transport, the European Transport Network. |
Description of the project and objectives |
The Plovdiv — Burgas railway line is part of the TINA-network and the pan European transport corridor VIII. The existing railway line “Plovdiv — Burgas” is electrified with a total length of 292 km, of which 139 km — one and 153 km double line. The design speed of the railway is between 100-160 km/h. Supply with a nominal rated voltage of 25 kV of the overhead contact line on the railway section Mihaylovo to Burgas shall be provided from five traction substations, namely: HGV Stara Zagora, Nova Zagora, Yambol, Karnobat and Burgas. The project will contribute to the implementation of commitments undertaken by the Republic of Bulgaria for the development of railway infrastructure, the achievement of European standards, in line with EU policy and the steady development of the Trans-European Transport Networks. Its implementation will provide a link to the project “Modernisation of the railway line Plovdiv — Svilengrad — Turkish, Greek borders”, which are in the process of the following international agreements and initiatives: Trans-European network (TEN); European Agreement on International Railway Lines (AGC); European Agreement on International Rail Combined Transport Lines (AGTC); The main purpose of the project is to restore, repair and upgrade three out of five traction substations that replenish the site. For all HDVs, Stara Zagora, Nova Zagora, Yambol, Karnobat and Burgas will also be built up a system for the remote control of HDVs, the JV and the SAO from the Plovdiv Central Dispatch Centre.The performance of the site shall aim to ensure a reliability of at least 30 years of life cycle, meeting existing European and national standards. |
Results, achievements, impact |
Three traction substations on the Plovdiv-Burgas stretch are modernised. Increased company energy efficiency. Telecontrol and video surveillance systems are installed. |
