The Minister of Environment and Water Neno Dimov signed a contract for the construction of an anaerobic installation for separately collected biodegradable waste on the territory of the Burgas region. The aim of the project is to provide infrastructure and a system for separate collection of biodegradable municipal waste in the municipalities of Burgas, Nessebar and Pomorie.
The facility has a recycling capacity of 30,652 tonnes per year. The total amount of the investment is over BGN 37.4 million. Operational Program Environment 2014-2020 provides grants amounting to BGN 29.4 million. The project implementation period is 48 months.
Minister Dimov also signed an anaerobic installation contract for separately collected biodegradable waste for the municipalities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Boboshevo, Kocherinovo and Rila. The facility has a capacity of nearly 16,000 tonnes per year and will serve 100,000 inhabitants. The project amounts to BGN 36.4 million, with the 2014-2020 OPE providing over BGN 30.2 million. The period for completion of the activities is 40 months.
"The implementation of these projects allows to turn the waste into a commodity in a modern and environmentally friendly way " said Minister Dimov. He added that this is the basis of the future economy, which Bulgaria aspires to.
The signing ceremonies with Burgas and Blagoevgrad took place during the Annual Information Event of OP Environment, where the progress of the OP for 2018 was presented.
