The Minister of Environment and Waters Mr. Neno Dimov, the Mayor of Sliven Municipality Mr. Stefan Radev and the Manager of Public Transport Ltd. Mr. Encho Petrov signed a contract for the renewal of public transport in the municipality.

The project is funded by Operational Program Environment 2014-2020 (OPE). The total investment is BGN 13.2 million. OPE will provide BGN 11 million.

It is necessary to make a conservative estimate of what can be done in the current programme period and to decide on the financing of the implementation of the activities concerned in the following period. This is what Galina Vasileva, Head of the Managing Authority of the OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure OP 2014-2020, has said at the meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the programme held on  25-26th of November in Bansko.

The Minister of Environment and Water Mr. Neno Dimov, the Mayor of Pleven Mr. George Spartansky and the Manager of Trolleybus Transport EOOD Mr.Angel Nestorov have signed an agreement for provision of public electric transport in the municipality of Pleven.

The project is funded by the Operational Program Environment 2014-2020 (OPE). The total amount of the investment is BGN 18 million. OPE provides BGN 15 million.

The Ministry of Environment and Water and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works have signed an agreement for support of regional investment planning in the water and sewerage sector. The agreed amount is BGN 22.8 million and it is covered by Operational Program Environment 2014-2020 (OPE).

The construction contract for the complete rehabilitation of the “Orizovo-Mihaylovo” railway section, part of the project “Rehabilitation of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway line, Phase 2”, co-financed by the Cohesion Fund through the Operational Programme “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014-2020, has been signed today.

The entire section is 37 km long out of which the bigger part of the double-directions railway track will be constructed over a new route and will allow train speed up to 160 km/h.

A sociological survey carried out in April 2019, commissioned by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, provides detailed information on the travel habits of the Bulgarians. The survey is national representative and covers 2007 citizens, aged 15+ years.

At least once a year 70% of the Bulgarians travel outside their place of residence. However, relatively regularly (at least once per month) travel slightly more than half of them — about 38% of the Bulgarians.

The Minister of Environment and Water Mr. Neno Dimov and The Mayor of Cherven Bryag Municipality Mrs. Verginia Vassileva have signed an agreement for prevention and strengthening of the areas where massive landslides occur. The execution of the project will prevent landslide and increase the protection the life and the health of more than 50,000 people.

The Minister of Environment and Water  Mr. Neno Dimov, the acting Mayor of Varna Municipality Mr. Peycho Peichev and the Executive Director of City Transport EAD - Varna Mr. Zlati Zlatev signed an agreement for municipal urban transport modernization. The project is funded by the Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020 (OPE). The total amount of the investment is BGN 85.4 million. OPE provides BGN 70 million.

The construction of Zheleznitza tunnel at Struma motorway has been launched, as well as the road sections right before and after it. The facility will be about 2 km long and will be the longest road tunnel built up to now in Bulgaria. The implementation is been divided into three parts: the tunnel and the road before and after it, in order to be able to work simultaneously and complete within the duration of the “Transport and Transport Infrastructure Operational Programme” 2014-2020.

The Minister of Environment and Water  Mr. Neno Dimov, the acting Mayor of Vratsa Municipality Mrs. Maria Popova and Trolleybus Transport Manager - Vratsa EOOD Mrs.Victoria Nacheva have signed an agreement for the modernization of urban transport in the municipality. 13 new electric buses and 9 new trolleybuses for public transport will be purchased with the financial means of OP Environment in Vratsa. Delivery and installation of 13 slow loading buses and one fast loading station are foreseen.
